KUALA LUMPUR (July 5): The Ministry of Health (MoH) reported today five new Covid-19 cases in the country as at 12pm noon, raising the total number of cases to 8,663 so far.
The MoH also declared the end of the Covid-19 Gombak and Cheras residential clusters in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur respectively.
Of the five new cases today, three were imported involving two Malaysians and one foreigner, who is a permanent resident, Health director general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah (pictured) said in a statement today.
Noor Hisham said the remaining two local cases involved Malaysians. "There are no [local] transmissions in the country among non[-Malaysian] citizens reported today," he said.
He said the two local cases involving Malaysians were detected through pre-surgery screenings, one each in Sabah and Negeri Sembilan.
In Sabah, the case was detected at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital while the Negeri Sembilan case was identified at a medical centre in Seremban, according to him.
