• The facility is expected to be converted into an additional distribution centre to support SCRB’s growing warehousing and cold storage needs.

PETALING JAYA (May 8): Supreme Consolidated Resources Bhd (SCRB), through its wholly-owned subsidiary Supreme Cold Storage Sdn Bhd, has proposed to acquire a parcel of land with a factory and office building in Kuching, Sarawak for RM5.6 million.

In a bourse filing yesterday, the group said the 14,690 sq m site, located at Lot 1050, Jalan Demak Laut 2, Demak Laut Industrial Park, includes a detached factory, a double-storey office, and a guardhouse.

The facility is expected to be converted into an additional distribution centre to support SCRB’s growing warehousing and cold storage needs.

The property is being purchased from Globalmas Sdn Bhd, a food canning company based in Kuching. It is free from encumbrances and comes with a 60-year lease that began in 1996 and runs until 2056.

The building, about 22 years old, was valued at RM6.74 million by Henry Butcher Malaysia (Sarawak) Sdn Bhd, which marks the purchase price to about 17% below market value.

SCRB said the purchase will be funded using proceeds from its recent initial public offering.

The new facility, which will house warehousing areas, cold storage units including freezer and chiller rooms, office space, and a loading bay, is aimed at reducing its reliance on rented storage space.

SCRB said the move forms part of the group’s broader plan to expand operations in Sarawak, improve operational efficiency and support future growth as it scales product distribution in East Malaysia.
