- The 60-storey Ilham Tower, worth between RM1 billion and RM1.5 billion, is located on Jalan Binjai in Kuala Lumpur. It has 33 office floors and 22 serviced apartment floors, covering one million sq ft, says its website.
KUALA LUMPUR (July 1): The High Court has set Aug 6 for the mention of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission’s (MACC) application to forfeit Ilham Tower (pictured), the skyscraper owned by the late Tun Daim Zainuddin's family.
The mention date was set by senior registrar Neethiya Nair Vijaya Kumar, MACC said in a statement on Tuesday.
The anti-graft body had on May 25 filed the application under Section 56 of the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001 (AMLA), seeking to seize the asset suspected to be linked to illegal activity without prosecutor.
The application was approved by deputy public prosecutor Datuk Ahmad Akram Gharib on the same day.
Meanwhile, MACC said it would also be working with US agencies over assets allegedly linked to Daim's family abroad.
The agency said it will cooperate with the agencies to seek assistance in filing a case concerning assets belonging to the former finance minister, his wife Toh Puan Nai'mah Abdul Khalid, and their proxies in the US.

Besides Ilham Tower, MACC also planned to forfeit other assets in Malaysia linked to Daim’s family in the coming weeks, MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki told a press conference last week.
