SUBANG JAYA (Aug 4): The Master Builders Association Malaysia (MBAM) celebrated its 71st anniversary with a gala dinner and an industry dialogue held on Friday (Aug 1).

The anniversary dinner, themed “Forging Greatness Together”, took place at Sunway Resort Hotel. The Deputy Works Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan was the guest of honour to officiate the event.

According to the press statement issued on Monday, MBAM special awards were also presented during the event, including the Bronze Award to MBAM honorary adviser (education) Chua Siow Leng, and the Silver Award to immediate past president Tan Sri Sufri Md Zin.

Long service awards were given to individuals and organisations for their sustained contributions to MBAM and the wider construction sector.

On Friday, MBAM also hosted the Construction Industry Dialogue in partnership with the Construction Industry Development Board Malaysia (CIDB) at its headquarters in Subang Jaya.

The session featured speeches by MBAM president Oliver Wee and CIDB chief executive Zainora Zainal, and was moderated by MBAM secretary-general Datuk Astaman Abdul Aziz.

The dialogue addressed pressing challenges in the sector including labour shortages, regulatory gaps, sales and services tax and volatile material costs, while proposing solutions centred on enforcement, skills development and strategic alignment.
