KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 6): Q Centre Group on Thursday marked the groundbreaking of Q Centre @ Teratai, a 9,000-bed centralised labour quarters (CLQ) in Meru, set to become the largest such facility planned in Klang.
According to a press release on Thursday, the ceremony was officiated by Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari and attended by state and local government officials, including Selangor deputy speaker Mohd Kamri Kamaruddin and Klang City Council mayor Abd Hamid Hussain.
Construction is slated to begin in January 2026, with completion targeted for December 2027.
The project forms part of Q Centre Group’s strategy to raise national standards in worker accommodation through sustainable and technologically enabled developments.
“Q Centre @ Teratai embodies our commitment to redefining the standards of workforce housing in Malaysia. It is not just about building accommodation—it’s about creating a sustainable, secure, and technology-driven living environment that uplifts worker well-being and supports industrial productivity. We aim to ensure that Selangor becomes the national model for ESG-compliant worker accommodation,” said joint managing director Simon David Leong.
The development is designed with facial recognition access, CCTV coverage, 24-hour security and comprehensive worker amenities, including canteens, prayer facilities and laundry services.

Q Centre @ Teratai follows the group’s recent announcement of Malaysia’s first smart CLQ at Port Klang Free Zone, which incorporates AI building management and energy optimisation.
“We plan to do our part in reducing the carbon footprint in Klang and to build multiple CLQs to support Selangor’s industrial growth,” said joint managing director Datuk Wira Joey Yan. “Our developments are designed to meet both national standards and international ESG (environmental, social, governance) expectations, ensuring that manufacturers and exporters in Selangor can comply with global sustainability requirements.”
Q Centre is implementing a five-year plan to deliver over 50,000 beds nationwide across a network of modern, compliant and sustainable CLQs.
