• Scientex, which also develops properties, said it is well-positioned to capture growth opportunities in the affordable housing segment and expects sustained growth backed by “a solid pipeline of developments and a stable outlook.”

KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 17): Scientex Bhd (KL:SCIENTX) saw its earnings grow 11% in the recently-ended quarter from a year earlier thanks to cost-cutting efforts and sales of higher-margin products.

Net profit at the plastic packaging manufacturer was RM142.9 million in the three months ended Oct 31, 2025 (1QFY2026), Scientex said in an exchange filing. Revenue for the quarter was up 4% year-on-year to RM1.16 billion.

Competition in the packaging industry remains intense, Scientex said, flagging other challenges including inflationary pressures, foreign currency volatility, geopolitical uncertainties and subdued market sentiment.

The company said it remains focused on “strengthening its business resilience through cost management and improving operational efficiency.”

Scientex, which also develops properties, said it is well-positioned to capture growth opportunities in the affordable housing segment and expects sustained growth backed by “a solid pipeline of developments and a stable outlook.”

The company is preparing to launch Scientex Pulai 4 by January 2026, while planning is underway for newly acquired land parcels in Paya Rumput in Melaka, Sungai Petani Astana in Kedah, and Bestari Jaya in Selangor.

During the quarter, Scientex launched its maiden project in Jawi, Penang, and its first high-rise development at its Seremban township in Negeri Sembilan. The group also rolled out more new projects across Peninsular Malaysia compared to the same period in the previous year.

No dividend was declared for the quarter under review.

Shares of Scientex were unchanged at RM3.32 at the midday trading break, giving the company a market capitalisation of RM5.17 billion ahead of the results announcement.
