KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 18): Sunway Construction Group Bhd (KL:SUNCON) said on Thursday its unit has received a work order valued at RM570 million to carry out core and shell works for a data centre in Johor.

The contract was awarded by a US-based multinational technology corporation to Sunway Construction Sdn Bhd (SCSB), according to a filing to Bursa Malaysia. The identity of the awarding company was not disclosed.

The work, which will commence immediately, is targeted for completion by the fourth quarter of 2026. Under the contract, the multinational corporation has the option, but not the obligation, to award the mechanical and engineering fit-out works to SCSB, subject to finalisation of the project contract.

Earlier in May, SunCon secured two contracts valued at RM1.16 billion to undertake general contractor services for two data centre projects awarded by a US-based technology company.

With the latest contract win, SunCon said its new projects secured this year total RM4.6 billion, while the group’s total outstanding order book stands at RM6.1 billion.

SunCon shares closed 14 sen, or 2.4%, lower at RM5.66 on Thursday, giving the company a market capitalisation of RM7.48 billion. The counter has risen more than 22% year to date.
