PETALING JAYA (Jan 27): DHL Supply Chain Malaysia has opened its South Region Hub 2 in Senai Airport City, Johor, expanding its logistics operations and supporting industrial and technology-driven supply chains.

The facility follows the opening of South Region Hub 1 in April 2025, which has since reached full occupancy by high-technology multinational corporations (MNCs).

“Hub 1 houses DHL’s regional Control Tower, providing centralized operational coordination, real-time end-to-end visibility, and multi-country supply chain monitoring across Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand.

“This capability helps manage complex supply chains and supports operational decision-making in the region,” said a joint statement by Senai Airport City and DHL.

“The sequential development of DHL South Region Hub 1 and Hub 2, supporting the integrated industrial and logistics ecosystem in Senai Airport City, reflects the natural multiplier effect of the Senai Airport City’s ecosystem in driving broader business activity and economic growth in Johor,” said Senai Airport City CEO Gan Seng Keong.

The newly completed Hub 2 spans 18,660 sq m and was finished within one year of its groundbreaking in April 2025.

The facility is fully occupied by key investors operating in Senai Airport City and is designed to support industrial and logistics activities, particularly in advanced manufacturing and technology-driven supply chains.

Hub 2 includes solar panels, smart LED lighting, and rainwater harvesting systems as part of DHL’s sustainability measures and Senai Airport City’s low-carbon development objectives.

The opening event was attended by DHL Supply Chain Southeast Asia CEO Edwin Wong, DHL Supply Chain Malaysia managing director Mario Lorenz, Senai Airport City management, and investors including Wiwynn, Shenghuabo, and Mercedes-Benz.

The development of Hub 1 and Hub 2 supports the integrated industrial and logistics ecosystem in Senai Airport City and reflects ongoing business activity and economic growth in Johor.

Senai Airport City Sdn Bhd, part of MMC Group, is the master developer of the 2,718-acre integrated industrial zone.

Located in Iskandar Malaysia, the area offers access to major expressways, seaports, and Senai International Airport, as well as proximity to Changi Airport in Singapore. The zone targets high-value investments in sectors such as electrical and electronics, logistics and warehousing, and fast-moving consumer goods.

The development provides a “Plug-and-Play” model with ready infrastructure including power, water, natural gas, and telecommunications. It also hosts a 400-acre gazetted Free Zone catering to export-oriented industries and regional distribution hubs.

DHL operates in more than 220 countries with around 400,000 employees worldwide.

The company provides logistics services including parcel delivery, e-commerce fulfillment, international express, road, air, and ocean transport, as well as industrial supply chain management.
