PETALING JAYA: (Feb 19) Syarikat Perumahan Negara Bhd (SPNB) will undertake the construction of 6,545 Rumah Mesra Rakyat (RMR) units nationwide in 2026 as part of its ongoing affordable housing mandate.

In a recent update, SPNB said it has been entrusted to implement the programme across multiple states, reinforcing its role in expanding access to homeownership for eligible low- and middle-income households.

Implementation will be carried out in phases. Phase 1, comprising 1,623 units, has been completed with some underway, while Phase 2—involving 2,300 units—is scheduled to commence next week. The remaining units will be rolled out under subsequent phases.

The Rumah Mesra Rakyat programme is designed to assist qualified applicants, particularly those who own land but require financial support to build a home. The initiative forms part of broader national efforts to improve housing accessibility and strengthen community stability through structured, government-supported schemes.

Eligible applicants may submit their applications directly via SPNB’s official website.

The 2026 rollout underscores continued momentum in the delivery of subsidised housing under the national affordable housing framework, with phased implementation aimed at ensuring orderly execution and distribution across the country.
