KUALA LUMPUR (March 9): Suria KLCC is marking Hari Raya Aidilfitri with a heritage-themed campaign featuring traditional crafts, cultural performances and a festive installation, with the mall’s Centre Court transformed into a bougainvillea garden display.
Suria KLCC Sdn Bhd executive director and CEO Francis Tan said the campaign, through its collaboration with Sofia Iman and the narrative of Penjaga Warisan, is not merely showcasing heritage but safeguarding it.
“As the nation celebrates Visit Malaysia 2026, we are proud to play our part in showcasing Malaysia’s cultural soul to a global audience, positioning the KLCC Precinct as a premier touchpoint for international visitors to experience the authenticity of our heritage,” he said in a statement.
Running until April 5, the campaign features a traditional Malay wakaf structure surrounded by a bougainvillea garden installation at the mall’s Centre Court and Esplanade KLCC. The setup incorporates 1,710m of hand-stamped batik crafted by Sofia Iman.
Visitors can also watch a live songket weaving demonstration by a master weaver from Terengganu using a traditional loom known as a “kek”.
The programme includes traditional games such as congkak and batu seremban, alongside gamelan music and Zapin dance performances.
Interactive workshops such as batik painting and flower arrangement sessions will also be held.
The campaign also features the festive brand film Penjaga Warisan, produced with Sofia Iman, which highlights the connection between modern city life and traditional heritage through a story set in Terengganu.
Sofia Iman founder Faralina Abdul Wahab said the showcase reflects years of dedication, creativity and a commitment to staying true to cultural roots.
“Sofia Iman's presence at Suria KLCC has shown us that customers desire modern interpretations of songket and batik that they can incorporate into their daily lives.
“This is an opportunity to present our story, honour our artisans, and share Malaysian craftsmanship with a broader audience,” she said.
