PETALING JAYA (March 18): Selangor Information Technology & Digital Economy Corp (Sidec) has announced the establishment of Fitipower Malaysia Sdn Bhd (Fitipower Malaysia), marking another step in strengthening Selangor’s semiconductor ecosystem.

Fitipower Malaysia is the local subsidiary of Fitipower Integrated Technology Inc, a Taiwan-based integrated circuit (IC) design company. The company has commenced operations at the Malaysia Semiconductor IC Design Park in Puchong, an initiative led by Sidec to position Selangor as a regional hub for IC design and semiconductor innovation.

The launch ceremony was officiated by Selangor State Executive Council member for investment, trade and mobility Ng Sze Han, and attended by Sidec technical director for semiconductor and venture division Lee Hing Wah, reflecting collaboration between the state government, Sidec and industry players.

Strengthening semiconductor ecosystem

The establishment of Fitipower Malaysia adds to the momentum of the Malaysia Semiconductor IC Design Park, which aims to attract global IC design companies, nurture local talent and support Malaysia’s move into higher-value semiconductor activities.

Fitipower Integrated Technology chairman Young Lin said Malaysia’s engineering talent pool, expanding semiconductor ecosystem and supportive policies made it a strategic location for the company’s overseas research and development (R&D) expansion.

Focus on IC design and R&D

Operating from the design park, Fitipower Malaysia will focus on semiconductor IC design-related R&D, including display driver IC (DDIC), power management IC (PMIC) technologies and edge AI system-on-chip (SoC).

The company aims to leverage regional technological resources to accelerate product development and expand its global market presence.

Following the launch, Sidec held discussions with Ng and Fitipower executives on potential collaborations in semiconductor talent development, industry partnerships and technology innovation initiatives.

Supporting industry growth

Sidec is an agency of the Selangor state government tasked with developing the state’s digital economy and technology ecosystem.

Its Malaysia Semiconductor IC Design Park initiative supports the growth of the IC design industry through talent development, specialised infrastructure and ecosystem building. To date, the park has onboarded 15 companies and facilitated the hiring of 261 engineers.
