KUALA LUMPUR (April 8): The Penang Regional Development Authority (Perda) has launched the Phase 2 development of the Perda Halal Park in Tasek Gelugor, according to a statement on April 7.
The new phase involves the development of additional factory units and infrastructure designed to enhance operational efficiency and support the growth of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the northern region.

Halal Development Corp Bhd (HDC) interim chief executive officer Hanisofian Alias presented a HALMAS Appreciation Plaque to Perda chairman Datuk Shaik Hussein Mydin to mark the park's continued progress.
The park has been a HALMAS-certified halal industrial park since 2011.
Phase 1 of the hub currently hosts more than 20 SMEs and has achieved an 83% occupancy rate with a total investment value of RM90.66 million.
The expansion aligns with the Halal Industry Master Plan 2030 (HIMP 2030), which targets RM25 billion in HALMAS investments by 2030.
HDC stated that the milestone reflects the growing strength and maturity of Malaysia’s halal industrial ecosystem in attracting nationwide investment.
