KUALA LUMPUR (May 21): Premium supermarket chain Village Grocer has expanded its retail footprint to the Johor Bahru City Centre with the official opening of its new store on the lower ground floor of SKS City Mall JBCC.

According to a press statement issued on Thursday, the new outlet is strategically located beneath the five-star Sheraton Johor Bahru and sits just minutes away from the Singapore CIQ checkpoint to target local residents, daily commuters, and cross-border visitors.

The new store serves as a cornerstone of SKS City Mall’s lifestyle-centric concept by offering a curated selection of fresh local produce, premium international imports, and artisanal baked goods.

The Food Purveyor chief executive officer Kok Kian Kee said: "Our arrival at SKS City Mall is a strategic move to bring our premium grocery offers closer to the vibrant heart of Johor Bahru".

Kok added that by integrating Village Grocer into this innovative hub, the goal is to ensure the brand remains a convenient and accessible resource for the multi-generational community here.

SKS City Mall JBCC itself is curated as a modern lifestyle and community destination that features selected Singapore brands to cater to cross-border visitors.

As part of Village Grocer’s commitment to sustainability, the new SKS City Mall outlet will operate as a plastic-free-at-checkout store, encouraging shoppers to bring their own reusable bags.
