PETALING JAYA (June 27): Penang Port has called a tender for a 2.20-acre parcel within Butterworth Deep Water Wharves (BDWW) for development and operation under a long-term sub-lease arrangement.

The exercise, Tender No. T/COR/26011, involves the sub-lease of 8,897.35 sq m (95,770 sq ft) at part of H.S. (D) 9813, Plot A, Seksyen 4, Bandar Butterworth.

According to the tender notice, the parcel is located within Penang Port’s conventional cargo area, with bidders required to submit separate technical and commercial proposals in sealed packages.

Proposals must be submitted to Penang Port’s Procurement Department by 12 noon on July 30, 2026.

A tender briefing and site visit are scheduled for June 30, with attendance listed as mandatory alongside registration with the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM).

The notice states there is no tender document fee or security deposit requirement, and that Penang Port is not bound to accept any tender, the lowest tender, or any part of any tender.

Penang Property Talk reported that the site currently comprises an existing warehouse and open storage yard. It added that the RFP indicates a potential sub-lease tenure of up to 27 years for the successful proposer, subject to final terms.

It also highlighted the site’s location within the BDWW area, which operates under a Free Commercial Zone framework, subject to applicable approvals, and its proximity to major industrial zones in Prai, Bayan Lepas and Kulim.
