On the same day, the court will also deliver its decision for another similar application by the defence for discovery on matters related to former Bank Negara Malaysia governor Tan Sri Zeti Akhtar Aziz's husband and son, who were alleged to have received 1MDB funds from fugitive businessman Low Taek Jho.

The prosecution's second witness Azman Azra Abdul Rahman, who was the chief assistant secretary in the Immigration Affairs Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs from August 2008 until October 2015, testified today that there were three occasions where Najib had sent minutes to Zahid to recommend Ultra Kirana Sdn Bhd (UKSB) as the sole operator for the visa application management system in China. 

The trial involving 40 charges of bribery against Zahid commenced here earlier today and is scheduled to go on for at least 16 days until the end of June.

The prosecution has failed to prove the monies were obtained from illegal activities.

The group, however, denied that the enterprise value of the sale would be RM5.2 billion.
