According to deputy PAC chairman Wong Kah Woh, who is also Ipoh Timur MP, the committee will meet Royal Malaysian Customs Director-General Datuk Seri Subromaniam Tholasy later this afternoon.

“Another thing that is interesting in the review is the guarantee of fair and reasonable development to states in the East Coast and Sabah and Sarawak."

This comes as Khazanah Research Institute’s “State of Households” report, released on Monday, stated the wealth gap in Malaysia is widening although the income growth among the middle income and low income (B40) groups is faster than that of the rich.

“I would like to reiterate that while we recognise that the country is in large debt, the government is still focused on sustainable economic growth.”

“We are already engaging with a few multinational and local companies [and] we hope to conclude the negotiations by the first quarter of next year.”
