The number of active cases declined to 283 as recoveries continue to outpace new infections

Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said 302 cases — which accounted for 96% of all cases in the cluster — involved foreign workers from Nepal (163), Bangladesh (67), Myanmar (35), Indonesia (31), India (four), Vietnam (one), and Cambodia (one).

This is the lowest since March 14 when the number of active cases stood at 203.

Dr Noor Hisham said undocumented migrants who tested positive for Covid-19 are isolated and quarantined for 14 days, and made to undergo second and third tests. "Through the repeat tests, the ministry detected more Covid-19 cases and the patients were transferred to hospitals for treatment."

HLIB analyst Nazira Abdullah wrote in note today that the research firm increased its MQREIT earnings forecast by 6% for financial year ending Dec 31, 2020 (FY20) and FY21 on lower expenses and contribution from new tenancy.

This means the rate of recovery from Covid-19 in Malaysia stood at 90.9% or 7,733 cases, while the number of active cases fell to less than 10% of total confirmed cases of 8,505, according to the Ministry of Health (MoH).

This is the second time Malaysia has recorded a single-digit number of new infections since the Movement Control Order was enforced on March 18.

Based on the data provided by the MoH’s Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre (CPRC), from May 26 until noon yesterday, the number of active cases in Sepang, Selangor dropped to 32 from 58 previously, while cases in Lembah Pantai in Kuala Lumpur fell to 34 from 80.
