EcoWorld’s 4Q net profit down 43%, achieves RM3.5b annual sales

Eco World Development Bhd (EcoWorld)’s net profit dropped 42.72% to RM42.84 million for the fourth quarter ended Oct 31, 2021 (4QFY21), from RM72.27 million a year ago, on lower contribution from its Malaysian joint ventures (JVs) and its international arm Eco World International Bhd (EWI) due to the lockdown.

Rehda's major request: Extend the Home Ownership Campaign

At a joint press conference by Rehda and Rehda Institute on Thursday (Dec 16) titled "Current issues facing the marketing and sales of properties in Malaysia", he said: "In 2022, we still wouldn't be back to that level. So, given that the economic scenario is challenging, one of our major requests is to extend the Home Ownership Campaign (HOC), so that economic growth can continue and the sector can be supported in the coming year.

Government urged to tackle building material price hike issue

In the joint statement issued on Monday (Dec 13) by Master Builders Association Malaysia, Real Estate and Housing Developers’ Association Malaysia, Persatuan Kontraktor Melayu Malaysia, Persatuan Kontraktor Bumiputera Malaysia, Guild of Bumiputera Contractors Wibawa, the United Malaysia Contractors Association and Pesatuan Kontraktor India Malaysia, the representatives of the sector said the hike of building material prices have resulted in a 13% to 20% increase in construction cost.

According to the Real Estate & Housing Developers’ Association (REHDA) the property sector was not spared from the spiralling effect of various movement curbs to stem the spread of Covid-19 in the country.
