Malaysian Family Housing Initiative eases rental woes of those affected by Covid-19

The government’s newly-launched “Rumah Ikram Keluarga Malaysia” aims to provide assistance to those who are struggling with rent and housing-related issues following the Covid-19 pandemic, with recipients being exempted from rent for six months and the waiver starting from the date they received the keys to their units.

When launching the Malaysian Family Housing Initiative known as “Rumah Ikram Keluarga Malaysia”, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob also announced that the number of units under the project had been doubled to 2,000 from the initial 1,000, enabling it to benefit some 10,000 needy occupants. Rumah Ikram Keluarga Malaysia will provide shelter to groups who have lost their sources of income or whose incomes have been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic to the extent of being unable to pay high rentals for houses.
