KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 1): The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) arrested a former special officer to a former Felda chairman to assist in the probe into the purchase of a hotel in Kuching, Sarawak by Felda Investment Corp (FIC), Bernama reported today

The anti-graft body’s chief commissioner Datuk Dzulkifli Ahmad said the man was held at 4am at the MACC’s Putrajaya Office where he had gone to provide a statement, Bernama reported.

The MACC said last week the Kuching four-star hotel is believed to have been bought at a price significantly higher than its actual market price.

The anti-graft body launched its investigation into the Sarawak hotel’s purchase after obtaining information from the team that was conducting the investigation into the purchase of a hotel by FIC in Kensington, London between 2013 and 2015.

Meanwhile, a former chief executive officer of FIC has been held to assist in the probe into the purchase the London hotel.

The 46-year-old man has been remanded for another four days.
