KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 1): AmanahRaya Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT)’s chief executive officer (CEO) Zalila Mohd Toon, 58, has resigned just after three months on the job.

Zalila took over the post — which was left vacant for eight months after Noorbaizura Hermeyney quit the REIT in March last year — on Nov 1 last year.

According to the REIT's stock exchange filing yesterday, her resignation is "due to other personal commitments", and is effective immediately.

Previously, Zalila was the executive director cum chief financial officer of Hektar Asset Management Sdn Bhd, the manager of HEKTAR Real Estate Investment Trust, until her resignation in January last year.

She was instrumental in Hektar REIT's listing in December 2006, and responsible for the financial matters and overall financial performance of the REIT.

Meanwhile, Amanahraya REIT's chairman post remains empty after Datuk Seri Ikmal Hisham Abdul Aziz resigned from the position on June 1 last year to focus on other commitments.

Amanahraya REIT's units closed one sen or 1.21% higher at 84 sen yesterday, giving it a market capitalisation of RM481.51 million. — theedgemarkets.com
