To bridge the urban and rural gap, the government will expand the coverage of basic infrastructure for rural areas, especially for Sabah and Sarawak.
For 2020, about RM587 million will be allocated for the Rural Water Supply Project, of which RM470 million is for Sabah and Sarawak to meet the 99% target of access to clean water.
The government will also spend RM500 million on the Rural Electric Power Supply Project which benefits more than 30,000 rural households, with the majority of beneficiaries living in Sabah and Sarawak.
