KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 23): Datuk Zaid Ibrahim (pictured) has called for “a fresh mandate from the people” in light of all the political maneuverings today.

The newly minted Kelantan DAP chairperson wrote in a tweet that “I can't believe this farce has reached the level of the Istana.

“You don't add the numbers in Parliament to form the government.”

“Pakatan Harapan collapsed, so go for dissolution. A fresh mandate from the people. Mandate does not come from the opposition and MPs with problems,” he added.

Zaid also served as Minister in the Prime Minister's Department for Legal Affairs and Judicial Reform under Prime Minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi’s administration.

He held that post from March to September 2008.
