
KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 18): Public Service director general Tan Sri Dr Wan Ahmad Dahlan Abdul Aziz (pictured) has been appointed as the chairman of Mass Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp), effective Aug 13.
In a statement on Tuesday, MRT Corp said the appointment comes as the organisation enters an important phase in delivering its national rail and urban development mandate.
“The organisation is progressing several major infrastructure projects, including the Johor Bahru-Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link and the Penang LRT Mutiara Line, while continuing to strengthen its capabilities in transit-oriented development, integrated property development and commercial revenue growth,” it said.
MRT Corp chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Zarif Hashim said Wan Ahmad Dahlan brought extensive experience in public administration, governance and institutional leadership.
“His experience will be invaluable as MRT Corp delivers major national infrastructure projects and strengthens its role in advancing Malaysia’s mobility and urban development agenda.
“His expertise in institutional management and policy implementation will support MRT Corp as it continues to strengthen its delivery capabilities and fulfil its mandate to catalyse the sustainability of cities and mobility of people,” he said.
Wan Ahmad Dahlan has served as the Public Service director general since January 2024.
His career in the Malaysian public service spans more than three decades, during which he has held several key leadership positions, including as the director general of the Implementation Coordination Unit in the Prime Minister’s Department, secretary general of the Ministry of Home Affairs, and the Comptroller of the Royal Household at Istana Negara.
He began his career in the Administrative and Diplomatic Service in 1995 and has since served in various ministries and government institutions, gaining experience in public administration, governance, institutional leadership and policy implementation.
Wan Ahmad Dahlan also serves as chairman of the Sustainable Energy Development Authority (Seda) Malaysia and the Razak School of Government.
He holds board appointments at several organisations, including Malaysia Rail Link Sdn Bhd, the Employees Provident Fund and the Inland Revenue Board.
