KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 1): Police in Miri have arrested a 24-year-old man for breaking a self-quarantine order three times at a hotel in the Sarawak city, reported The Star.

The man was originally placed in quarantine at the hotel after returning to Miri “from a high-risk Covid-19 destination on Nov 16”.

He then left the hotel on three occasions: On Nov 20 for about six hours, on Nov 21 for about three hours and Nov 22 when he walked out of the hotel at night.

The police arrested him after his quarantine ended on Nov 30 and placed him under remand. The man’s excuse for breaking quarantine was that he wanted to visit his family.

The police said the man will be investigated under Section 269 of the Penal Code and Section 22 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988.
