PERTH (July 29): JLand Group, the real estate and infrastructure arm of Johor Corporation (JCorp), has signed two framework agreements with Far East Consortium Australia (FEC) and Malaysia Land Properties (Mayland), to explore joint development opportunities in Australia and Malaysia.
Under the agreement with FEC, JLand will explore mixed-use developments, including purpose-built student accommodation, in major Australian cities. Meanwhile, the Mayland partnership will focus on activating JLand-owned land in Johor Bahru through joint ventures aligned with the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ), according to a press statement issued on Tuesday.
JLand said both collaborations are aimed at strengthening the company’s role as a cross-border development partner by leveraging complementary expertise and delivery capabilities.
“These potential collaborations reflect the disciplined, strategic approach we’ve taken in expanding our footprint across key urban markets. JLand has always placed human experience at the centre of our development philosophy. Our collaborations with FEC and Mayland represent more than joint ventures—they are a convergence of shared values and purposeful ambition to build communities and ecosystems that matter,” said JLand group managing director Datuk Akmal Ahmad in the statement.
Meanwhile, FEC executive director Craig Williams said: “The potential alliance with JLand offers an opportunity to bring together a shared commitment to delivering more than just buildings, instead creating places that respond to the needs of the locality and in turn drive social and economic benefits for locals and the wider community.”
In the statement, Mayland managing director Datuk Kevin Woo highlighted that the company is looking forward to partake in the JS-SEZ growth.
“We are looking forward to our joint venture development within JLand-owned lands in Johor Bahru, where we can leverage and synergise our expertise with JLand to become a relevant and significant property player in the Southern region,” said Woo.
