PERTH (July 30): UEM Sunrise Bhd (KL:UEMS) unveiled the sales gallery of its One Oval mixed-use development in Perth, Australia on Wednesday.
UEM Sunrise’s first project in Perth, One Oval is located in the Subiaco suburb at the intersection of Roberts Road and Haydn Bunton Drive. The development, which has a gross development value of A$450 million (approximately RM1.35 billion), will comprise two residential blocks and a 340 sq m retail space over two lots.
Lot 1 comprises 245 units (including 16 townhouses), while Lot 2 comprises 97 units (including 41 affordable housing units). There is a 340 sq m retail space at Lot 1.
The developer will sell the affordable housing units to a community housing provider. The remaining open-market units will have a built-up size ranging from 77 to 273 sq m, selling from A$640,000.
The project is expected to commence construction in 2026 with Lot 2 to be completed in 1Q2029 and Lot 1 the following year.
During the unveiling ceremony, UEM Sunrise officer-in-charge and chief financial officer Hafizuddin Sulaiman said the project will complement the community and amenities that are already available in the area. “This project aims to create a vibrant and inclusive precinct for future residents and the surrounding community that blends green spaces, innovative design and Subiaco’s natural beauty.”
“This is our first project in the Western Australia state and we are excited to be here. Since acquiring this site in 2023, we've focused on building what is going to be a memorable project. We are aligned with DevelopmentWA, in terms of its aspirations for the rejuvenation of Subiaco East,” he said.
City of Subiaco mayor David McMullen concurred: “It [One Oval] will be a successful development that will complement what’s already here in the City of Subiaco and one which in time, the locals will in fact embrace. Now, a big part of that would be the provision of high quality services and facilities and amenities that the whole community can enjoy.”
One Oval is part of the Subiaco East Rejuvenation Masterplan. The masterplan, led by DevelopmentWA (Western Australia government’s central land and development agency), aims to rejuvenate 35 hectares of land that surrounds the former Subiaco Oval, a sports stadium that was demolished in 2019.
