SUNGAI PETANI (Oct 24): Kedah-based developer Aman Setia Group has secured GCH Retail (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd as the anchor tenant of its Aman Parc township, with plans to build and lease a Giant supermarket under a 15-year agreement involving a total investment of RM10 million.

The 15,000 sq ft Giant outlet is slated to open by the fourth quarter of 2026 in Sungai Petani, Kedah.

Under the partnership, Aman Setia will construct the asset and lease it to GCH Retail, the operator of one of Malaysia’s longest-established supermarket brands.

“The supermarket will provide convenient access to daily essentials, create job opportunities, attract more visitors to Sungai Petani, and strengthen Aman Parc’s position as a dynamic lifestyle destination,” said Aman Setia chief operating officer CK Ooi in a press statement issued on Friday.

He added that the collaboration would also strengthen the township’s positioning as a lifestyle hub while providing practical benefits to the surrounding community.

Spanning 97 acres of freehold land, Aman Parc is an integrated township development with residential, commercial and lifestyle components and a gross development value of RM500 million.

The signing ceremony was held on Oct 8. Present at the ceremony were Aman Setia directors Tan Chong Ming and Ooi Inn Kee, as well as GCH Retail director Datuk Gary Yap and chief executive officer Tiger Cheah.
