KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 31): UMediC Group Bhd (KL:UMC), through its wholly-owned subsidiary UWHM Sdn Bhd, has signed a lease agreement with Penang Development Corporation (PDC) for a 3.06-acre industrial parcel in Batu Kawan Industrial Park 3.
According to a press release on Friday, the lease is valued at RM11.4 million and will span 60 years, with payments to be made in tranches.
The investment will be funded through a mix of internal funds and bank borrowings.
The group plans to construct a new manufacturing facility on the site to expand its production capabilities.
The facility will support its medical consumables segment and accommodate future volume growth and product diversification.
UMC said the new plant will allow its existing facility to concentrate on ramping up production of its HydroX series Prefilled Humidifier.
“This announcement is a strategic step in strengthening our manufacturing foundation and supporting the Group’s long-term growth plans,” said executive director and CEO Lim Taw Seong.
He added that scaling up production capacity is necessary to maintain operational efficiency and supply reliability amid sustained demand.
