Malaysia’s data-centre sector is entering a new phase of rapid expansion, supported by strong hyperscaler demand, regional spillover effects from Singapore and sustained policy momentum. According to MIDA’s latest mapping of facilities nationwide, Malaysia now hosts a growing network of operational, under-construction and planned data centres across major digital hubs, including Cyberjaya, Kuala Lumpur, Johor, Selangor and Penang.

Cyberjaya and Kuala Lumpur remain Malaysia’s most established clusters, housing long-standing facilities from AIMS, NTT, CSF Group and VADS. These locations continue to attract expansions due to their mature fibre networks and proximity to enterprise demand. Selangor has also strengthened its position with 35 identified projects, reflecting sustained interest across Klang Valley’s digital corridors.
Johor, however, has emerged as the country’s fastest-growing data-centre hub. Its proximity to Singapore, coupled with competitive land availability and industrial power access, has drawn largescale hyperscale developments. Operators such as AirTrunk, Equinix, Keppel, Vantage and Open DC have announced major investments in the state, positioning Johor as a complementary twin-node to Singapore for AI-ready computing and cloud infrastructure.
The New Industrial Master Plan 2030 and state-level initiatives in Johor and Selangor emphasise digital infrastructure as a strategic economic driver. And Malaysia’s expanding data-centre footprint is expected to play a larger role in Southeast Asia’s cloud architecture.
