KUALA LUMPUR (May 7): UEM Sunrise Bhd (KL:UEMS) has announced the appointment of Leong Jee Van (pictured) as its chief property development officer, effective May 18, 2026.

According to a press statement on Thursday, the appointment is part of the group’s strategy to strengthen its core property development capabilities and deliver sustainable long-term value.

Leong brings over 30 years of experience in the property and engineering sectors, with a background spanning land acquisition, product planning and property management.

In his new role, he will oversee end-to-end development functions, focusing on product quality enhancement, cost discipline and timely delivery across the group’s portfolio.

He is also expected to play a key role in strengthening execution across strategic growth corridors, including the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone and other high-growth urban markets.

“We are pleased to welcome Leong to UEM Sunrise. His extensive experience across the property value chain strengthens our leadership bench as we continue to sharpen our development focus and execution discipline,” said UEM Sunrise managing director and CEO Shaharul Farez Hassan in the statement.

Leong was previously with Tribeca Real Estate Management Sdn Bhd, where he led the development of the Cedar Damansara residential project in Bukit Damansara.

He also served as the CEO of property development at Matrix Concepts Holdings Bhd (KL:MATRIX), where he established the Kuala Lumpur team to support expansion beyond Negeri Sembilan and Johor.

His career includes senior leadership roles at Tropicana Corp Bhd (KL:TROP), Naim Holdings Bhd (KL:NAIM) and Bandar Raya Developments Bhd.

Leong holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) and a Bachelor of Economics from Monash University in Melbourne, Australia.
