PETALING JAYA (May 6): 118 Mall is on track to open this August, introducing a new retail and lifestyle destination at the base of Merdeka 118, the world’s second tallest building.

The mall is owned and managed by PNB Merdeka Ventures Sdn Bhd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Permodalan Nasional Bhd, with more than 70% of its retail space already committed and the first wave of tenants currently undertaking interior fit-outs.

Malaysian Artisan District anchors the offering

Spanning 80,000 sq ft, the Malaysian Artisan District forms part of the mall’s offering, featuring local food, craftsmanship and creative concepts. At its centre is the Makanizm Food Hall on Level 3, a 40,000 sq ft space dedicated to a range of Malaysian culinary offerings.

Food and beverage tenants confirmed include Kenny Hills Cafe, ZUS Coffee, Eight Ounce Coffee, Oriental Kopi, Serai, Dolly Dim Sum and Cili Kampung.

The fashion and lifestyle segment features brands such as Skechers, Decathlon and Habib Jewels, alongside other names including Coach, Hackett London, Cole Haan, ASICS and Li-Ning.

Anchor tenants include Village Grocer, HappiKiddo, Babyshop and SOGO118 — a refreshed evolution of the iconic SOGO brand, which also houses a new-to-market Matcha bar alongside a beauty and wellness selection spanning Korean, Japanese and Chinese brands.

The Atmosphere: a sky-lit event piazza

On Level 4, The Atmosphere spans 20,000 sq ft and is designed as an event piazza featuring an 88-metre diameter glass dome and three large high-definition LED screens. The space is intended to host fashion showcases, exhibitions and public events, positioned as the social centrepiece of the precinct.

Precinct context

According to its statement yesterday, 118 Mall forms part of the broader Merdeka 118 mixed-use precinct, which also comprises premium Grade A office space, The View at 118 observation deck, Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur and two residential towers known as Merdeka Residences.

The precinct is set within a four-acre linear park, Merdeka Boulevard at 118, and is accessible via the Belfield Tunnel and multiple public transport links.

The mall is located within walking distance of Petaling Street, Stadium Merdeka and Stadium Negara — the latter two of which are gazetted national heritage sites under the custodianship of PNB Merdeka Ventures.

"Merdeka 118 is shaping up to be a global precinct and one of Kuala Lumpur's most exciting new destinations," said PNB Merdeka Ventures chief executive officer Datuk Ir. Ts. Izwan Hasli Ibrahim.

"With over 70% of our retail space already committed, we are excited to contribute to the Visit Malaysia 2026 calendar by offering a world-class experience."

118 Mall head of retail Sue Wang, added: "We have been very intentional about creating a mix that feels connected to this specific part of Kuala Lumpur. 118 Mall is the heartbeat of the Merdeka 118 precinct — it gives our retailers a meaningful stage to shine and ensures the mall feels vibrant and welcoming to all."

The mall is projected to welcome 22 million visitors in its first year of operation across its more than 300 retail outlets.
