KUALA LUMPUR (May 18): WCT Holdings Bhd’s (KL:WCT) Taiwan unit has secured a RM152.7 million contract for construction works on a 4.1 kilometre stretch between the Gaoke and Gangshan interchanges at Taiwan’s Sun Yat-Sen Freeway in Kaohsiung.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, the company said the project awarded by WU En De Construction Co Ltd covers road, bridge and drainage works. Construction is expected to begin on Aug 1, 2026 and be completed within 42 months.

WCT shares rose 1.02% to 49.5 sen, giving the company a market value of RM772.1 million, though the stock remains down nearly 32% over the past year.

The company is currently trading at a price-earnings (PE) ratio of 16 times, lower than most of its peers. Its price-to-net asset value (PNAV) ratio of 0.2 times is also the lowest among comparable companies.

By comparison, IJM Corp Bhd (KL:IJM) trades at a PE ratio of about 25 times and PNAV of 0.8 times, while Gamuda Bhd (KL:GAMUDA) trades at around 26.2 times and PNAV of 2.1 times.
