RAWANG (June 8): Gamuda Land has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with UCSI University to establish a new campus at its Gamuda Gardens township development located at Rawang, Selangor.
The collaboration will see UCSI launch a temporary campus at Gamuda Gardens in January 2027, with an initial operational capacity of about 2,000 students. The facility will occupy 66,000 sq ft and house 45 classrooms, a multipurpose hall, indoor basketball courts and other learning and recreational facilities.
Under the longer-term plan, both parties are targeting the development of a permanent campus with a capacity of 6,000 students on a six-acre site within the township. The permanent campus is slated for completion in 2031.
The temporary campus will offer undergraduate programmes in business and management, creative arts, computer science, as well as electric vehicle (EV) and autonomous mobility studies. Diploma and foundation programmes will also be offered.
Gamuda Land chief executive officer Gim Teck Yew said the partnership reflects the continued evolution of Gamuda Gardens into a mature and integrated township.
“The addition of UCSI University reflects the continued evolution of Gamuda Gardens as a mature and integrated township. The biggest value a township can provide its residents is by having education as its core,” Gim told the press.

According to Gamuda Land, the collaboration builds on its strategy of incorporating educational institutions into its townships to create a pathway from K-12 to tertiary education, while enhancing convenience for residents and supporting long-term value creation.
UCSI president and vice-chancellor Prof Emeritus Datuk Dr Siti Hamisah Tapsir said the new campus would become the university’s fifth campus, complementing its existing campuses in Cheras, Kuala Lumpur; Kuching; Springhill, Negeri Sembilan and Bangladesh.
“We are glad to partner with Gamuda Land in this effort. Both parties recognise the need to provide quality higher education offerings in Rawang and the Northern Klang Valley corridor,” she said.
She added that the university plans to expand its programme offerings over time as the campus grows.
The university’s presence is also expected to support commercial activity within the township, with students and faculty gaining access to existing amenities such as Gardens Square and the upcoming Atrium retail development.
