PETALING JAYA (June 15): Tropicana Metropark has contributed RM5 million towards the construction of the Taman Batu Tiga Mosque in Subang Jaya, as part of Tropicana Corp Bhd’s wider ESG and community-building initiatives at its 88-acre integrated township.
In a statement, Tropicana said Tropicana Metropark is partnering with Perbadanan Wakaf Selangor (PWS) and the Jawatankuasa Pembinaan Masjid Batu Tiga (ProTEM) on the mosque, which will be built on a 1.28-acre site in Taman Batu Tiga and is designed to accommodate about 2,000 worshippers.
The group described the mosque as a much‑needed community facility for residents in and around Tropicana Metropark, adding that the RM5 million pledge reflects its focus on social impact and placemaking under its “OneTropicana” vision.
ESG and community focus
Tropicana’s executive director of authority liaison Shahril Salam said Tropicana Metropark has been planned since 2013 as a well-connected and sustainable township with a mix of residential, commercial, educational and recreational components anchored by a 9.2-acre urban park.
He said the RM5 million contribution underscores Tropicana’s support for PWS initiatives and the ProTEM committee’s efforts, and that the mosque is expected to serve the immediate and surrounding communities by fostering social cohesion, spiritual well-being and a stronger sense of belonging.
At the official handover ceremony, PWS chairman Tan Sri Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohamed Tahir said the collaboration reflects PWS’ commitment to supporting Malaysia’s socio-economic development and the well-being of the Muslim community, adding that the new mosque will provide an additional facility for the Subang Jaya community and strengthen community engagement.
