PETALING JAYA (June 25): The Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT) has allocated RM216.44 million to Johor under the 13th Malaysia Plan (RMK-13), Rolling Plan 1 (RP1) 2026, to support housing development, public infrastructure and community wellbeing.
Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming (pictured) announced the allocation during his two-day working visit to the state under the Sentuhan Kasih KPKT 4.0 programme.
The funds were symbolically handed over to Iskandar Puteri City Council’s director of valuation and property management, Dr Mohamed Ali Mohamed Abu Backer, representing the Johor state government, during a visit to Flat Taman Ungku Tun Aminah.
Nga said the allocation underscores the Madani government’s commitment to ensuring access to quality housing, improved public amenities and a more sustainable living environment.
A significant portion of the funds will go towards public housing initiatives, including Rumah Malaysia (Disewa), the People’s Housing Programme (PPR), People’s Residency Programme (PRR), Madani Inclusive Housing (PIM), Housing Maintenance Programme (PPP), the Malaysia Housing Maintenance Fund (TPPM) and Rumah Mesra Rakyat (RMR).
The allocation will also support upgrades to public and community infrastructure such as markets, Madani stalls, drainage systems, public toilets, recreational parks, fire stations and housing area maintenance.
These efforts are aimed at enhancing comfort, safety and quality of life for residents across Johor.
In addition, funds have been earmarked for solid waste management projects, the safe closure of landfill sites, public landscaping and urban and rural planning to enhance sustainability and resilience.
KPKT is also continuing community-focused initiatives, including urban home repair programmes, the Non-Muslim Houses of Worship Maintenance Initiative (RIBI), and new village development projects aimed at improving living standards and strengthening community unity.
During the visit, Nga inspected multiple projects across Johor Bahru, Iskandar Puteri, Kulai, Kluang and Batu Pahat, covering public housing, community facilities, markets, recreational parks, non-Muslim houses of worship and local infrastructure.
He said KPKT will continue working closely with the Johor state government and local authorities to ensure projects are implemented efficiently, transparently and deliver meaningful impact for residents.
