Mohd Imran Mohammad Salim, director of GSB Sentral, says the building located in Kuala Lumpur Sentral is expected to be completed by 3Q2012. Shell People Services Asia Sdn Bhd, the anchor tenant at 348 Sentral, will occupy 60% of the office tower for the next 15 years, he adds.
GSB Sentral is a joint-venture (JV) company set up between Gapurna Sdn Bhd (Gapurna) and Malaysian Resources Corp Bhd (MRCB) to develop a 2.09-acre plot of gazetted commercial land at the intersection of Jalan Tun Sambanthan and Jalan Travers.
He was speaking at the launch of a campaign to green Kuala Lumpur Sentral and 348 Sentral today, at Sooka Sentral. Officiating at the event were the Federal Territories Minister Senator Datuk Raja Nong Chik Raja Zainal Abidin and Kuala Lumpur Mayor Datuk Ahmad Fuad Ismail.
The campaign is a partnership between GSB Sentral and MRCB to plant 1,000 trees and plants around the Kuala Lumpur Sentral development and Jalan Tun Sambanthan.
MRCB Group Managing Director Shahril Ridzuan says he hopes this effort will encourage other developers to take up the challenge to make integrated developments greener and healthier.
His sentiments were echoed by Mohd Imran, who believes eco-friendly projects are more than just about energy saving buildings as there is also a need to preserve nature and the environment in a more sustainable manner
MRCB was the winner for the “Environmental Performance Report” and “Special Mention – Assurance Approach” at the recently concluded ACCA Malaysia Sustainability Reporting Awards 2009.
