HONG KONG: Country Garden Holdings Co, the property developer controlled by China’s richest woman, said sales in the country’s so-called “golden week” holiday rose 63% to RMB2.2 billion yuan (RM1.2 billion).
Gross floor area sold between Oct 1 and 8 jumped 83% from a year earlier to about 410,000 sq m, the company said in a statement e-mailed on Oct 11. China shut down for the eight-day National Day holiday.
Country Garden’s controlling shareholder is Yang Huiyan, daughter of founder and chairman Yeung Kwok Keung. Identified by Forbes in March as China’s richest woman, Yang owns 59.3% of the company, according to a July 17 stock exchange filing. – Bloomberg LP
