KUALA LUMPUR: Over 2,000 people visited the Iskandar Malaysia Pavilion during Cityscape Dubai held on Oct 5 to 8, 2009, said Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA) chief executive officer Harun Johari.

“Overall, we believe we have achieved what we have set out to do and despite the economic situation in Dubai, Iskandar Malaysia received a positive reception. This can also be accredited to the opportunities in the region as well as Asia’s attractive business climate and investment potential,” said Harun.

The high number of visitors to the Iskandar Malaysia Pavilion indicated substantial interest on investment potential within the nine economic clusters and inquiries were made on projects undertaken in Iskandar Malaysia, architectural and investment brokerage services offered as well as employment opportunities within the economic zone, he added.

Iskandar Malaysia’s participation in Cityscape Dubai was meant to showcase the region’s development to the global market. “We believe that this exhibition was an excellent avenue to attract potential investors, while at the same time driving Iskandar Malaysia’s vision of a strong and sustainable metropolis of international standing. By visiting our pavilion at the exhibition, we aim to have our visitors understand and buy-in to the Iskandar Malaysia preposition as a choice destination to invest, work, live and play,” said Harun.

A strategic location within the New Economic Asia, connectivity, ready facilities and infrastructure as well as nine strategic economic clusters -- electrical and electronics, oleo-chemical and petro-chemical, food and agro-processing, logistics and related services, tourism, health-care, education, financial services and ICT as well as creative industries; have contributed towards enhancing Iskandar Malaysia’s brand and investment potential among the Cityscape Dubai visitors, added Harun.

Cityscape Dubai is the world’s largest international business-to-business real estate investment and development conference held annually, and features an exhibition that brings together regional and international companies from various fields related to property.
