SIBU: Some 4,500 agricultural and 3,000 residential land owners here have yet to settle their land rents and premiums amounting to RM773,827.50, or 87.89% of the total of RM880,413.99, as at March 31.

Divisional Land and Survey Department revenue officer Johnny bin Patrick Ugak said on Wednesday, June 16, that the others who had not paid up were those in the plantation, commercial and industrial sectors.

He said a surcharge or penalty of 50% would be imposed on them.

He advised them to settle the payments soonest at the department's Revenue Section located at Room 2 or at a special one-day customer service counter to be set up at Level 21 of the Sibu Municipal Council Office and Level 17 of the Sibu Rural District Council Office from 8am to 3.30pm on Friday.

The land owners could also check on their payment records, arrears, land category of their lands, update their addresses or get replacement of the rent booklets (Red Book), which had been mislaid or destroyed by fire.

Those with queries could call him or Madam Tan Lay Kiiaw at 084-326099, he said. -- Bernama
