PUTRAJAYA: Putrajaya Corp will organise an international conference themed "Green Cities: Putrajaya Urban Conference Series 2010," over two days beginning Feb 23 at the Putrajaya Corporation Complex here.

The corporation's deputy director of public relations, Zaharah Salamat, said the conference being held for the first time is in line with the government's desire to make Putrajaya and Cyberjaya pioneers in the development of the green cities concept.

She said the conference would be held with the cooperation of the Malaysian Town Planning Association, the National Green Technology Centre and the Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water and is scheduled to be officiated by the Minister of Federal Territories and Urban Wellbeing Datuk Raja Nong Chik Raja Zainal Abidin.

"It is hoped the conference would provide more comprehensive understanding and meaning to green cities from the concept of quality development, issues and challenges towards drawing up a green city action plan for Putrajaya," said Zaharah.

Twelve speakers including from Australia, China, Indonesia, Singapore and the US will table working papers. -- Bernama
