KUALA LUMPUR: Selangor Dredging Bhd's (SDB) net profit has surged to RM7.1 million for its second quarter (2Q) ended Sept 30, 2010, from RM1.8 million a year ago on the back of higher sales, it announced to Bursa Malaysia on Tuesday, Nov 23.

Its revenue rose by 38% to RM83.74 million from RM60.6 million a year ago on the back of higher sales achieved by its newly-launched projects: 20trees West located at Melawati, Five Stones located at SS2 Petaling Jaya and Gilstead Two, Singapore.

Its basic earnings per share rose to 1.67 sen from 0.42 sen a year ago.

The group said its outlook for the rest of the year remained challenging in light of the global financial crisis of the West, but its unrecongised revenue of RM700 million is expected to contribute to the group over the current and subsequent financial years, enabling SDB to perform satisfactorily in the current financial year.
