An ongoing dispute initiated by Tan Sri Jamaludin Jarjis’ widow Puan Sri Dr Kalsom Ismail for the late minister’s RM2.1 billion estate will go to trial, after settlement talks initiated in November last year failed to materialise.

Four Petaling Jaya residents who filed a legal action against the Petaling Jaya Dispersal link (PJD link) wants the Selangor government to give a firm commitment to reject any future highway development in the PJ area.

The counsel for four Petaling Jaya residents who filed a judicial review action against the Selangor and federal governments over the Petaling Jaya Dispersal Link (PJD Link) project said they will adopt a wait-and see approach before considering withdrawing their legal action.

The Court of Appeal on Wednesday (May 24) has allowed the appeals of 68-year-old landowner Tan Jiak Chye to subpoena four people to testify in his RM330 million suit against 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) and 1MDB’s counterclaim of RM6 million on him in relation to the Air Itam estate.

The High Court on Friday (May 12) granted an air conditioning subcontractor of the 8 Conlay project an injunction against Grand Dynamic Builders Sdn Bhd (GDBSB) to restrain the company or its directors or other officers from issuing a demand pursuant to a Standard Chartered Bank Malaysia Bhd letter of guarantee dated March 8, 2021, until the final disposal of its arbitral proceedings.

“The bench declines to answer the questions, and we unanimously dismiss the appeal,” Tengku Maimun said.

So far, this is the largest group of plaintiffs suing ACE Holdings.

The property in question in the long-standing dispute that started in the 1960s covers 263.72 acres.
