KUALA LUMPUR (June 23): Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng has called for a probe on land in Jinjang allegedly sold at below market value to two Umno-linked companies.
Lim also claimed that there could be corruption and fraud in the sale, even implicating former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, The Star reported today.
Lim had obtained information from Chief Secretary to the Government, Tan Sri Dr Ali Hamsa on Thursday that “32.37ha land owned by the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur Land and Mines Office was sold to the two companies at the request of Najib, without an open tender”.
“The companies had also allegedly asked for a 30% discount of the RM237 million land premiums, which Najib had asked Ali Hamsa to consider granting.
“I will be writing to the MACC (Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission) to investigate for criminal breach of trust and abuse of power.
“I will also ask the LHDN (Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia ) to also find out if any tax was paid after the sale of the land,” he said during a media conference at the DAP Kepong centre today.
In total, the land was sold at RM237,142,547 to the two companies, well below the market price, according to a report by the Malay Mail. Lim said "both parties almost immediately flipped the land and sold it off to developer Perdana ParkCity Sdn Bhd" according to the same report.
Meanwhile, Kepong Community Service Centre head Yee Poh Ping also revealed that “the mixed development project would involve about 14,000 luxurious condominium units, part of it to be built over reclaimed land over the Jinjang Flood Retention Pond”, The Star reported.
“This pond is an important infrastructure for flood mitigation in the north part of the city.
“The authorities must ensure that the project will not jeopardise the flood mitigation feature,” Yee said.
Lim and Yee said they have asked Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) to change the development order to include affordable homes.
