PETALING JAYA (July 23): Selangor’s first motorcycle-only bridge is scheduled to open in early October, reported The Star.

The bridge is located at the intersection of the Federal Highway and Jalan 222 and is part of the 8.1km-motorcycle lane and drainage upgrade project from Kelab Golf Negeri Selangor in SS7 to the Kota Darul Ehsan arch at the boundary between Selangor and Kuala Lumpur.

Other bike bridges in the state typically included pedestrian lanes.

A Public Works Department (JKR) Petaling District spokesperson said the bridge was necessary due to frequent flooding in the motorcycle lane.

The department has told contractors to speed up the project, which has been delayed by a month due to numerous issues such as equipment theft, flooding, change of design, and the long public holiday after the general elections.
