KUALA LUMPUR (July 17): Plantation group IOI Corp Bhd has appointed former Khazanah Nasional Bhd senior adviser and director Lim Tuang Ooi as its new independent and non-executive director.

The appointment will take effect from Tuesday (July 18), the group’s bourse filing showed.

Lim is a chartered accountant with over 40 years of experience in risk management, banking and accounting. Currently, he is the independent and non-executive directors of Allianz General Insurance Company (Malaysia) Bhd and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corp Malaysia Bhd.

Lim was senior adviser and director at Khazanah from 2019 to 2021, and senior general manager and head of risk management division at the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) from 2007 to 2019.

“He was effectively the chief risk officer [at the EPF], responsible for the overall risk management and governance division. He has helped transform the risk management practice of EPF and facilitated in embedding risk philosophy into the Strategic Asset Allocation Investment model, resulting in EPF being able to deliver consistent risk adjusted returns until today,” said IOI Corp.

As of 3.03pm Monday, IOI Corp share price was trading down by 0.52% or two sen at RM3.85, giving it a market capitalisation of RM24.2 billion.
