PETALING JAYA (Sept 11): Southern Score Builders Bhd’s wholly owned subsidiary Southern Score Sdn Bhd (SSSB) has accepted a RM180 million letter of award from Radium Hospital Ayer Keroh Sdn Bhd (RHAK) for the main building works of a private hospital development in Melaka.
In a Bursa Malaysia filing on Friday (Sept 11), Southern Score Builders said the contract sum excludes sales and service tax, if applicable.
The project, on Lot 33076 in Mukim Bukit Katil, Melaka Tengah, Hang Tuah Jaya, comprises a seven-storey private hospital, a three-storey car park block, a mechanical and electrical utility building, a refuse house, a vacuum insulated evaporator tank site and a pump house.
The contract covers building and external works, mechanical and electrical services, aluminium and glazing works, common-area interior fit-outs, flooring, facade works, kitchen equipment, a link bridge to a therapeutic garden, landscaping and other related works.
Construction is scheduled to begin on Oct 15, 2026. The contract period is 19 months, with completion expected on May 14, 2028, according to the filing.
Southern Score Builders said the project is expected to contribute positively to the group’s net assets and earnings per share from the financial year ending June 30, 2027 until its completion.

It will have no immediate effect on the company’s net assets per share and gearing, and no effect on its share capital or shareholding structure.
Southern Score Builders classified the contract as a recurrent related-party transaction.
The company said siblings of Tan Sri Datuk Seri Gan Yu Chai, a director and major shareholder of Southern Score Builders, are a director and major shareholder of Radium Development Bhd, the ultimate holding company of RHAK.
Southern Score Builders director Datuk Sydney Lim Tau Chin is also a non-independent non-executive director of Radium and holds less than 1% equity interest in the property developer.
Southern Score Builders said it had obtained a shareholders’ mandate at its annual general meeting on Dec 9, 2025 for recurrent related-party transactions between the group and Radium and its subsidiaries, associate companies and joint-venture companies.
The company said the LOA was among the contemplated transactions set out in Section 2.4 of its circular to shareholders dated Oct 30, 2025.
The contract was entered into in SSSB’s ordinary course of business and does not require shareholder or regulatory approval, according to the filing.
Southern Score Builders said its board, excluding Gan and Lim as interested directors, was of the opinion that the project is in the ordinary course of business and in the group’s best interest.
