KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 6): IJM Construction Sdn Bhd, wholly owned by IJM Corp Bhd (KL:IJM), has accepted a RM1.4 billion Letter of Award from its sister company New Pantai Expressway Sdn Bhd (NPESB) for the design and build of the New Pantai Highway Extension.

Construction is scheduled to commence in the fourth quarter of 2025 and is expected to be completed within 48 months, IJM Construction said in a statement. NPESB, also wholly owned by IJM, is the concessionaire that manages the existing New Pantai Expressway or NPE.

IJM Corp signed a supplementary concession agreement with the government in August for the extension, known as NPE2, which will be a fully-elevated 15km highway that connects the Pantai Dalam Toll Plaza on the existing NPE to the Jalan Istana Interchange via Jalan Syed Putra. The extension will have a new toll plaza.

“This award moves the NPE extension from planning into delivery,” said IJM group CEO and managing director Datuk Lee Chun Fai.

“This marks our third project above RM1 billion this year, following the RM1.4 billion fast-track data centre in Johor and the RM2.1 billion hyperscale data centre in Elmina. Together, these wins reflect our progress in delivering large-scale projects across industrial and infrastructure sectors,” he added.

With this latest contract, IJM Construction's outstanding order book now amounts to about RM15.2 billion, its highest on record. The tally includes the group’s share of projects from associates in the United Kingdom and Singapore.

"Within Malaysia, the domestic order book stands at about RM9.3 billion, supported by a balanced portfolio of industrial and infrastructure projects that continues to drive the group’s growth," IJM Construction added.

IJM shares closed four sen higher at RM2.50 on Thursday, valuing the group at RM9.12 billion.
