KUALA LUMPUR (June 25): Construction and property company Sisk has been appointed as the main contractor to lead the construction of Phase 3C of the 42-acre Battersea Power Station regeneration project, according to a press statement issued on Wednesday (June 24).
The project works are scheduled to commence in the summer of 2026.
Sisk will be responsible for constructing two new buildings designed by architectural practice Gehry Partners to complete the pedestrianised high street, Electric Boulevard.
Battersea Power Station Development Company Ltd chief executive officer James Saunders said: "Phase 3C will complete Electric Boulevard, a critical part of the estate which continues to grow from strength to strength with new brand openings, office tenants and a new entrance to our Zone 1 Underground Station which opened last year".
Phase 3C will deliver approximately 300 new homes, 65,000 sq ft of commercial space for shops, cafes and restaurants, a 15,000 sq ft Community Hub and a 600-space bicycle hub.
The construction of this phase is expected to generate 400 jobs, with a target of 20% of the workforce sourced from the local area.
Sisk chief operating officer Ireland and UK, Steven McGee said: "We will bring our expertise in Modern Methods of Construction, offsite delivery and major project execution to Phase 3C, while working closely with Battersea Power Station Development Company and local partners to create a sustainable impact in the Borough of Wandsworth".
The announcement follows the recent appointment of Studio Egret West as master planner, urban designer and landscape architect for the remaining 16 acres of the master plan.
The 42-acre riverside regeneration site is owned by a consortium of Malaysian shareholders comprising Sime Darby Property Bhd (KL:SIMEPROP), S P Setia Bhd (KL:SPSETIA) and the Employees Provident Fund.
The landmark destination centred around the Grade II listed power station has welcomed more than 40 million visitors since opening in 2022.
