Mandurah Perth

PERTH (Oct 27): Benoy, an international studio of architects, masterplanners, interior and graphic designers, has been appointed to  redevelop and expand two retail centres in Western Australia -- the Galleria Shopping Centre in Perth and the redevelopment and extension of Mandurah Forum in Bunbury.

Benoy will be working with Australian developer Federation Centres, it said in a statement today.

The studio aims to reposition the Galleria Shopping Centre as a state-of-the-art retail and leisure centre near the centre of Perth.

“Entering Australia is a milestone for Benoy and we are incredibly excited to share the details of our first projects in the country,” said global commercial director at Benoy, Tom Cartledge.

“These appointments with Federation Centres speaks of Benoy’s reputation in the international retail sector and what we, as a design firm, can bring to the Australian market,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Mandurah forum project will see Benoy leading the interior designing concept while collaborating with local practice and project architect Hames Sharley.

The concept design is inspired by the geography of the surrounding area and the relaxed coastal lifestyle, which will help to create a different character for each zone within the mall and provide a balanced retail experience for the development as a whole, said Benoy.

“Retail centres are more leisure-orientated these days, with an emphasis on food and beverage, fresh markets and spaces for ‘Pop-up’ and independent retailers,” said Benoy director, Robert Bishop.

We will incorporate and accommodate these activities in an attractive and partially externalised environment at the Mandurah forum”, he added.
